Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrate their wedding anniversary on 20 November. Wedding recalls one of the most famous weddings.

72 years ago, the future Queen of Great Britain, Elizabeth, married the Greek Prince Philip. Elizabeth and Philip met in 1934 at the wedding of Princess Marina and Prince George. It is interesting to note that then Elizabeth was only 8 years old, Philip not much more – 13 years old.

The royal family announced their engagement in 1947. The wedding of Elizabeth and Philip took place on November 20, 1947. In the difficult post-war time, the royal wedding was very useful for raising morale.

Elizabeth chose an ivory satin dress. Norman Hartnell was responsible for the design of the wedding dress. The image was complemented by a veil and tiara. The ring was made of platinum and diamonds by Philip Antrobus Ltd. We should also say about the bridal bouquet. Florists made it from white orchids and myrtle. Previously, myrtle was specially grown for the royal bouquet.
